The Atacama Desert

The Atacama is the oldest , driest and most unaltered desert on the face of the earth.

It spans approximately 2600 kilometers in length and 200 kilometers  in width. Because of its characteristics , this desert with its different ecological niches has permitted a great diversity of flora and fauna as well as geologies . Many of these wonders have  preserved their pureness and solitude thanks to the vastness of the area. Different cultures have inhabited and visited this desert. The coast was occupied by the Changos,  coastal nomads of the Atacama. The high plains or plateaus have been inhabited by six cultures of Andean people throughout 15.000 years of history.

The routes and paths that  these ancient cultures used, to cross the desert have been preserved. And I invite you to travel and visit them.
